From the Aegean coast of western Turkey, this antique olive jar was once used for storing and transporting olive oil. Hand-thrown in the Kınık region, it shows the distinctive long, tapered shape and small vent typical of the area’s amphora-style vessels. The clay has aged naturally through years of use and exposure, shifting in tone from warm terracotta to deep ash brown with traces of lime and mineral bloom.
The surface now holds a timeless Mediterranean patina — earthy, honest, and full of quiet depth. It brings a sense of age and simplicity to English countryside homes, cottages, and rustic farmhouse interiors.
Leave it bare as a sculptural piece or style with tall dried stems for a naturally balanced look.
