This antique terracotta amphora comes from Izmir in western Turkey, where it once held olive oil pressed from the surrounding groves. Made by hand from coarse red clay, it shows the quiet irregularities of traditional Anatolian pottery — soft firing marks, mineral traces, and a dry, matte surface shaped by years of use. The tall form and rounded handles give it an easy, sculptural balance.
Now converted in the UK into a table lamp, it keeps the integrity of its making — solid, honest, and timeless.
