From the Cappadocia region of central Turkey, this antique single-handled pot was traditionally used for carrying and cooling water. The dark surface is the result of pit-firing — a method where clay vessels were fired in open flames, producing natural smoke markings and a deep charcoal tone unique to each piece.
The clay shows areas of warmth beneath the blackened finish, with soft gradients of bronze and ash-grey peeking through. Its slender, balanced form and honest surface give it a quiet strength and timeless Mediterranean patina.
Perfect for English countryside homes, cottages, or rustic farmhouse interiors, it brings an earthy, sculptural presence to any space. Style it with dried grasses, antique flowers, or leave it bare to show the natural variations in tone.
