This antique olive jar comes from western Anatolia, where it was once used for storing olive oil after harvest. The jar’s broad shoulders, narrow base, and high twin handles made it easy to lift and transport, while the glazed neck helped to seal the oil and prevent spoilage. The red clay has darkened naturally over time, showing smoke marks and surface wear from years of use.
A working vessel made for everyday life, it carries the simple honesty of traditional Turkish pottery — strong, practical, and quietly beautiful.
