This antique amphora comes from the Adana region of southern Turkey, where rich iron clay was fired in wood-burning kilns at extreme heat. The upper body shows a natural iron glaze formed during firing — a dark, molten brown that fades into the raw red clay below. Once used for storing oil, it carries the signs of heavy use: subtle pitting, mineral bloom, and the rough transitions of flame and smoke.
Now converted in the UK into a table lamp, it has a deep, elemental finish that feels both grounded and sculptural.
Lamp Base Only: Shade not included.
Brass Fittings: Will develop a natural patina over time.
Handle with Care: Lift by the base, not the brass riser.
